Victorian Suite
23. January 2010 by admin.
With the Safari Room now completed, work has begun on the Victorian Suite. No pictures yet, but the suite has been gutted down to pretty much the bare walls. All the sinks have been removed and we discovered that one of the original walls, complete with slates and horsehair plaster, was still being used! I’d love to keep a section open for guests to see, but will not be able too. I will make sure I have pictures though. The Victorian Suite, when completed, will have a two-person jet tub, private enterance and a enclosed seasonal balcony to enjoy.

Bridal Fairs, Ice Car Races….
23. January 2010 by admin.
Last week I set up at the annual Bridal fair at Little River Country Club. This event is hosted by Bay Cities Radio. By the way, listen for Riverside Manor Bed and Breakfast on Streaming Radio! LOTS of brides there and lots of interest in an alternative to a motel room for thier wedding night. Something to consider.
The Ice Car races are being held today- and every Saturday this month. Check out the events pages for addtional information.

a day at Riverside Manor
11. January 2010 by admin.
Hello everyone! I’ve been super busy this last week. My sons came up and we had our family Christmas. I completed the renovations on the Safari Room (take a look at www.riversidemanor.net) and updated the website! And I’ve started to take down the Christmas decorations- always a sad thing for me as it’s pretty much my favorite time of year. But, that means I get to start decorating for Valentines Day! I’ve also started planning the very first Murder Mystery Weekend at Riverside Manor. Should be pretty interesting- keep checking back to see how things shape up!
The Car Ice Races are in full swing. And we have the ice fishing tournament coming in just a couple of weeks.
I’ll be at the Marinette Bridal Fair on January 17th at Little River Country Club. Stop by and say Hi and sample some of the goodies that I’ll be bringing along.

New Years, 2010
1. January 2010 by admin.
Happy New Year everyone! As the end of 2009 has come and the start of a new decade, let’s take a few moments to reflect. In the last year, I opened Riverside Manor, BnB. I’ve looked to the future and hope to be able to retire from my “day job” in the next few years so that I can just be an Innkeeper.
In 2009, the States saw more homes being foreclosed and more jobs being lost. While optimistic that this trend will change, my own beleif is that it won’t be anytime this year, perhaps in 2011.
We, the United States, still has a huge presense in Iraq and Afghanistan. Children born since 2002 will have no recollection of peace time. While congress has not declared war, the end result is the same. Lives being lost everyday. In 2009 I decided to support our troops more directly and signed up to ‘adopt a soldier’. As a result, in 2009 I’ve been corresponding with an army specialist in Afghanistan and my life has become richer for it. I encourage all of you to really show your support, to let these men and women know they are not forgotten by doing the same. After all, if it wasn’t for them, our lives would be horrifically different.
Did 2009 have any ‘good moments’? Well, it has had some historic moments. In February the United States saw it’s first Black man sworn in as President. While the jury is still out on his abilities and leadership in the last year, and probably will be until long after he is out of office, the fact remains that while this is still a nation rift with racism, that the people came together and decided he was the best canidate for change. Let’s hope we were right.
On a personal side, besides opening the Inn, I was able to find a place close to me to bring my horse up from my other house. So, I now have Bruiser here, where I see him almost everyday. My family is healthy and that is the best of all.
As for 2010 I hope this begining of a new decade will bring peace and joy to all, and those that have lost homes and jobs that you find employment soon and begin your new life.
In short, I hope this dawn of the new decade will show the turning of the tide and return the States to it’s former glory.
